How much does a mountain bike tour around Lake Garda cost?
5 June 2026 · 5 min read · by Lex Shatilov
People email me weekly asking the same thing: "What's the total cost for a day of mountain biking in Lake Garda?" Most websites dodge the answer. I won't — here are the real numbers for 2026, from someone who lives and guides here.
The short answer
For a single rider, a complete guided MTB day around Riva del Garda costs roughly **€40–€180**, depending on the tour and whether you need to rent a bike. For a private group of 2 to 6 sharing one guide, the **guide fee is a flat €80–€180 for the whole group** — so per-person cost drops fast as you add riders.
Now the detail.
1. The guided tour itself
Before I give you my rates, a bit of context. **The established market price for a guided MTB tour around Lake Garda is €180–€200 per group for a 4–5 hour ride, regardless of group size — whether you're one rider or six.** Above six riders the price goes up because a second guide is needed to close the group safely.
My pricing is simple and transparent: **one rate for a solo rider, one flat group rate for 2 to 6 riders together** (private tour, one guide). Solo riders get a clearly lower price than the market; small groups split the flat rate however they want. The flat group cap is **never above €180** — exactly the established market ceiling.
Indicative rates per tour (see each tour page for the exact number):
- **Easy scenic** (Monte Brione): **€40 solo / €80 group of 2–6**
- **Lake-loop and intermediate** (Lago Bagattoli, Pregasina, Lago Tenno, Lago Ledro, Campi): **€50 solo / €100 group**
- **Mid-range alpine and viewpoint** (Monte San Pietro, Lago Cavedine, Punta Larici): **€60 solo / €120 group**
- **Classic technical** (San Giovanni, Malga Grassi): **€70 solo / €140 group**
- **Full-day alpine** (Passo Nota): **€75 solo / €150 group**
- **Legendary panoramic** (Passo Tremalzo): **€90 solo / €180 group**
That price includes the guide, route planning, first-aid kit, multi-tool, spare tubes, pump, and a power bank. No hidden extras.
See the full tour list and prices on the site for the exact rate per route.
2. Bike rental (if you don't bring your own)
Rental prices in Riva, Torbole and Arco are reasonably consistent across shops in 2026. These are the typical day rates:
- **Analog hardtail MTB** (front suspension only): **€25–€30 / day**
- **Analog full-suspension MTB**: **€35–€45 / day**
- **E-MTB hardtail** (electric, front suspension only): **€45 / day**
- **E-MTB full-suspension** (Bosch CX, Shimano EP8): **€65 / day**
- **Premium e-MTB** (top-spec trail/enduro): **€80–€100 / day**
Hardtail or full-suspension?
The extra €20 for a full-suspension e-MTB buys you two things: **comfort and confidence.**
On forest roads and easier trails the rear shock simply smooths out bumps — your back and legs feel fresher at the end of the day. On technical singletrack it keeps the rear tyre glued to the ground, which means more traction, more control, and more safety when the trail gets loose or steep.
A lot of guests choose full-suspension not because they need it, but because they want to feel safer and more comfortable. That's a perfectly good reason. And some people rent a high-end bike here simply because they can't get one at home — they want to ride a proper brand-name machine while they're in Garda, not some generic rental.
Helmet is **included in the rental** and the shop is required to provide one. If you bring your own bike, bring your own helmet.
Most shops have tiered multi-day pricing: roughly **−10% from 2 days, −20% from 6 days, −30% from 13 days**. If you book a tour with me, I can recommend a shop that gives my guests a fair price.
3. Lift tickets — usually €0
This is where Lake Garda is genuinely different from the Dolomites or the Alps. **Most of my tours use no chairlifts.** We climb on forest roads (or in eco mode on an e-MTB) and descend on singletrack. No lift budget required.
4. Optional: GoPro footage
Action camera footage of your ride is free on request — I'll send you the raw files after the tour.
Sample day costs (real scenarios)
All numbers below are **guide + bike only**. Food, coffee and drinks are up to you and not part of the tour price.
Scenario A — solo rider with own bike, half-day classic
Monte San Pietro tour: **€60 total**.
Scenario B — solo rider, rented e-MTB hardtail, classic tour
Punta Larici tour €60 + e-MTB hardtail rental €45 = **€105 total**. A hardtail is enough here — the climb is mostly on forest road and the descent, while rocky, is manageable without rear suspension. Save the €20 and spend it on a post-ride espresso in Riva.
Scenario C — group of 3 friends, rented e-MTBs, full-day alpine
Passo Nota tour flat group rate **€150** (split 3 ways = €50/person) + 3 e-MTB full-suspension rentals 3×€65 = €195. **Total: €345, or €115/person.** (On this tour I recommend a full-suspension e-MTB — the descent is long with technical sections, and the extra comfort and control are worth it.)
Scenario D — group of 5 friends, own bikes, scenic loop
Lago Bagattoli flat group rate **€100** split 5 ways. Per-person cost: **€20/person**.
Scenario E — couple, own bikes, Tremalzo classic
Passo Tremalzo flat group rate **€180** split 2 ways. Per-person cost: **€90/person** — same as solo, but you're riding the legendary panoramic crossing together.
How to keep the cost down
- **Come as a group of 2 to 6** — the flat group rate splits across all riders, so 4–6 people pay very little each
- **Rent for 2+ days** — the per-day price drops automatically, and from 6 days it really starts to add up
