About the Lake Ledro Bike Tour tour
A ride from Lake Garda up to Lago di Ledro.
A different lake, a different atmosphere, and one of the oldest settlements in Europe.
This tour starts in Riva del Garda and follows the famous Ponale road — a scenic route carved into the cliffs above the lake.
The climb is steady and the views open up quickly. Below you, Lake Garda stretches out with boats and mountains on both sides.
After the Ponale, we continue through a quiet valley towards Lago di Ledro — a calm alpine lake surrounded by green hills.
At the lake, you can take a break, walk along the shore, swim, or stop at a café. There is also a small museum of prehistoric pile dwellings — a UNESCO World Heritage site.
On the way back, we descend the Ponale with open views over Lake Garda — one of the best parts of the ride.
Why this ride is special — Lake Ledro Bike Tour
The Ponale road was built in 1851 as the first connection between Lake Garda and Valle di Ledro. Today the old road is closed to cars and has become one of the most popular cycling routes around Lake Garda.
Lago di Ledro is home to one of the oldest lake settlements in Europe. Around the lake, remains of prehistoric pile dwellings were discovered — houses built on wooden stilts above the water more than 4,000 years ago.
Today, this site is part of a UNESCO World Heritage area. A small museum near the lake shows how people lived here in prehistoric times.
The lake itself is also known for its clean and warm water, making it one of the best places for swimming in the region.
